Sam is a native of the Niagara Region in Ontario, Canada. She began taking singing lessons at age 16 and in the years following secondary school, she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in French with a minor in Criminology from Brock University. She continued to sing throughout those years, winning numerous first place awards in several competitions. Upon completion of her degree, she decided to pursue a more artistic endeavour and studied Musical Theatre Performance at St. Lawrence College. In 2012, she graduated with Honours and began working in the field of Musical Theatre.
Sam has since performed in many musicals and, in 2018, she produced her first solo concert entitled This is me: Unplugged, an evening of acoustic cover songs exploring mental health and well-being. Partial proceeds from the performance were donated to a local arts and mental health charity.
Sam is an incredibly versatile singer. She is a mezzo-soprano belter at heart and loves creating simplistic, stripped down versions of covers songs. She sings varying music styles with ease such as rock, country, pop, Motown and more. She is currently an acoustic songwriter in the works, has been playing piano by ear since 2009 and began learning acoustic guitar in 2018. One day, she aspires to accompany herself on both instruments. In 2018, Sam decided to focus more on a solo career and looks forward to collaborating with singers, songwriters and musicians across the country to create incredible and inspiring Canadian music.
She has received extensive formal coaching in her career at the Ontario Conservatory of Music and St. Lawrence College, and continues to train vocally with accredited instructors in Niagara.
